The College Expo is a two-day conference and exhibition event for everyone involved in post-16 education and training in Scotland. This event was organised by CDN. This years event took place at Queen Margaret University on 6th & 7th June 2018. D&A College were delighted to be invited to present at the Expo to share our learning and involvement within the Erasmus + Memory Media project which encompasses partners from Sweden, Spain, China and 2 from Scotland. The title of the presentation was 'Using problem based learning in social care'. There were a couple of key items that the presentation addressed. The first part focused on how problem based learning was used as a pedagogy to engage and motivate students to design and build a web application that could be used to help carers for those suffering from early onset dementia. The second part of the presentation was delivered by two HND Interactive Media students who gave a demonstration of the prototype application that was built by their class. There were over 50 delegates who signed-up to attend with most of them coming from the care sector. There was some very positive feedback from attendees with one comment that really stood out; 'it's great to see young people using their learning and skills to make our society better'.
